Physical Therapy
Many physical therapists use Pilates and Pilates-based programs to rehabilitate people with arthritis, osteoporosis, and many other conditions and injuries. Pilates is a good way to get in shape without risking injury if you have joint disease or are recuperating from surgery.
Most insurance companies cover Pilates instruction, if provided by a physical therapist, and can reimburse you for much of the cost. Simply obtain a prescription from your doctor for physical therapy, and make sure it specifies Pilates conditioning as your treatment. For more information, contact Autumn at Associated Physical Therapy, 619-464-0105, or E-mail Rebecca at rebecca@pilatesmindandbody.com .

Pink Ribbon Program
Pilates Mind And Body and Associated Physical Therapy, Inc. is proud to be the first facility in San Diego to provide the Pink Ribbon Program post-operative workout enhancing recovery, offering strength, self-esteem, and quality of life to breast cancer survivors. If you would like to have the program administered by a physical therapist, simply have your doctor prescribe the Pink Ribbon Program on your physical therapy prescription.
Exercise may be the last thing you feel like doing after breast cancer surgery. You're probably exhausted, your arm may be painful and swollen, and the adjuvant treatments can make you feel even worse. All you want to do is rest. In the past, that's exactly what doctors recommended. However, recent studies indicate a link between moderate physical exercise and improved quality of life for breast cancer survivors.
We are dedicated to promoting a healthy lifestyle and positive body image to all breast cancer survivors. The Pink Ribbon Program will help stretch and strengthen the shoulder, chest, back, and abdominal muscles, allowing women to regain full range of motion to those areas affected by breast cancer surgery. This program is suitable whether your surgery was recent or several years ago and accommodates all fitness levels.
BENEFITS OF THE PINK RIBBON PROGRAM
• Improves self confidence and control
• Helps regain strength and mobility in affected shoulder and arm
• Enhances energy levels and helps to control weight
• Improves sleep and alleviates fatigue
• Decreases stress and tension
• Enhances physical and mental well-being
